WFA’s Nutrition Academy

When it comes to nutrition, there are a million opinions and options out there – how many have you tried? And how many of them worked for a little while, but left you feeling deprived, frustrated, and maybe gaining back the weight you lost?

There is a better way.

To be successful with your nutrition journey requires that your plan be individualized in two different ways…and unfortunately, most people in the industry only think about one of these two ways (and worse yet, a bunch don’t make it personal to you at all).

Your program has to be tailored to your goals, and your program has to be tailored to your life.

Let’s get one big thing out of the way first…everyone can get better at nutrition. The person eating a Big Mac for lunch every day – they likely have room for improvement. Olympic athletes who are the pinnacles of performance and physique – they’re likely already working with a nutrition coach to ensure they’re getting every last bit of value out of their nutrition decisions.

How do you tailor your nutrition program to your goals?

First, you’ve got to consider what your goals are, and what’s your motivation. Confidence in a bikini on vacation? Improving your performance running a 5k? Have a better ski season? Re-ignite passion with your partner or spouse? Get stronger, faster, from your hard work at the gym?

Each one of these goals could call for a different program to achieve – it all depends on where you’re starting from.

And that’s the failure of most coaching programs – they don’t take into account both “where are you now” and “where do you want to go?”

If you don’t know where you want to go, any road will take you there. And if you don’t know where you’re starting, you don’t know which direction to head.

When your nutrition program is tailored to your goals, it looks like this…

1. It starts with talking through your goals, and understanding your why – finding the hidden reasons your goals are important to you.

2. Then we work backwards to identify where you are now – not just weight and body fat, but also your habits, mindset, and emotions.

3. We build a plan to get a bit better every day, and every week.

In other words, we take out a road map, we find where you are now (let’s say, Chicago) and where you’d like to be (let’s say, Denver), and we plot a course (all ahead!).

Sounds easy, right?

Sure, if the trip from Chicago to Denver were a straight line, but it isn’t. (Okay, I just looked this up…get on I-80 and go west. It’s basically a straight line. Stick with me, okay?)

If it were easy, you’d have done it by now. You’d have the body and health of your dreams, as would the other smart people around you.

Sometimes we need some help. Maybe we’re not sure what we need to do, maybe we haven’t figured out our personal “why” yet, or maybe we know our why, and the what, but we struggle with consistency and building good habits.

And that’s how your nutrition program needs to be tailored to your life.

If you’re a parent…you may struggle to get your child to bed, or home before it’s dark out. Or if you’ve got a teenager (or multiple), you’re worried about their decisions and their future.

If you’re single…you may struggle to balance your work life with your personal life.

If you’re an athlete…you may struggle to eat well to fuel your performance, while still getting to enjoy some of the foods you love.

If you’re a human…you’ve got to eat. But knowing what to eat, and when, and how much – these are the harder questions to answer.

So you need, and you deserve, a nutrition program that will meet you where you are, get you pointed in the direction of your goals, and support you every step of the way.

When we do nutrition coaching, here’s what we promise to our students:
  • Better mindset around health, fitness, exercise, and nutrition
  • Better relationships: with food, exercise, yourself, and the people around you
  • The knowledge of what “good” nutrition is, and what matters most, so you can make smart decisions, independently
  • The ability to “go with the flow” and make smart nutrition decisions in any situation…even on a road-trip, say from Chicago to Denver
  • Feeling empowered, and knowing that you’re in control
  • Freedom from the tyranny of the scale, and the ability to experience non-scale-victories like how your clothes fit, and how much energy you have
  • Freedom from tracking every single thing you eat

Basically, we promise that you’ll change how you think and feel about nutrition, and that you’ll have the skills and the tools to live the rest of your life healthier, and fitter, and happier, then ever before.

And we promise that you won’t be given a one-size-fits-all, rigid meal plan that leaves you feeling hungry and deprived all the time. Just writing that sentence makes me sad – I’ve even had plans like that – bummer that anyone has to experience it.
Rather, you’re going to have ongoing support and guidance to help you make good decisions for you, that will help you achieve your goals.

Is this program for you?

  • Do you like to learn new things?
  • Do you like to take on challenges?
  • Are you in it for the long-haul? Do you believe (or can you muster trust) that change takes time and effort, and results (in your body, your mind, your whole life) will be worth it?
  • Do you want a partner in this work, a guide who can help you navigate so you avoid the pitfalls, but who will let you take your own steps?

If you said yes to at least a couple of those questions, our program could be a good fit for you.

Are you ready to take the next step?

We’d love to talk with you about Nutrition Academy, and continue the conversation to see if it’s a good fit.
